In the face of unprecedented attacks on the people of Massachusetts under President Trump’s leadership, Maura has stood up to protect our values and our residents.

When President Trump cut off SNAP for Massachusetts families during the federal shutdown, Maura acted fast to ensure families and seniors would not go hungry, helping to launch a partnership with all of the United Way organizations, called the United Response Fund, to raise $7 million to fight hunger. She created a SNAP Response Hub to help people find food, support food banks and pantries, or connect with food rescue groups and advanced $4 million to food banks to help meet the surge in need.

When President Trump issued tariffs that drove up prices and disrupted supply chains, Maura brought together regional leaders from the US and Canada and launched TRBO – the Tariff Response and Business Operations Support Initiative – to better align state assistance for businesses facing rising costs and supply chain challenges.

When Secretary Robert F Kennedy and President Trump tried to deny access to vaccines and cut critical funding for science, Maura took action. She had her Department of Public Health Commissioner write a vaccine prescription for everyone in the state and made sure insurers would cover them. Now people can get the vaccines they want and need, at a price they can afford, and Massachusetts continues to issue vaccine recommendations that are rooted in science. 

When they cut funding to the world-leading hospitals, universities, and researchers, Maura launched the DRIVE Initiative (Discovery, Research and Innovation for a Vibrant Economy), to leverage $400 million in state funding to retain top talent, create jobs, and protect the core of our innovation economy and Research Catalyst Fund to receive philanthropic and industry matching contributions to support cutting-edge work.

And in the face of harmful tactics by ICE, Maura has stood up for families and for public safety in our communities.
