After years of underinvestment, Maura got the MBTA working again. Under her leadership, the MBTA removed 220 slow zones, increased speeds, and got new cars on the tracks. Commutes are easier with up-to-the-minute updates on the MBTA Go app. The South Coast rail, a critical tool to spur economic development and support the people of Fall River, New Bedford, and Southeastern Massachusetts, was finally opened under Governor Healey’s watch – restoring train service to the South Coast for the first time in 65 years.
Governor Healey also secured billions in federal transportation funding to rebuild the Cape Cod Bridges and develop West-East Rail service. She also has a historic $8 billion plan to upgrade roads, bridges and public transportation across the state.
