Mayors Garcia, Macksey, Marchetti, Sciarra, and Derby, legislative leaders endorse Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll following events across Western Mass

Western Massachusetts
— Today, Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll made stops across Western Massachusetts, after which Holyoke Mayor Joshua A. Garcia, Pittsfield Mayor Peter M. Marchetti, North Adams Mayor Jennifer A. Macksey, Northampton Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra, Easthampton Mayor Salem Derby, and legislative leaders endorsed Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll for reelection.

During their campaign stops, Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll emphasized their administration’s steadfast focus in Western Mass, making sure the region gets its fair share by investing hundreds of millions of dollars to boost housing production and preserve hundreds of homes in the region, designating Pittsfield and Pioneer Valley as regional leaders under the Massachusetts TechHubs program with over $5 million in funding, and awarded grants of up to $30,000 to new farmers in Southampton, Colrain, and Ashfield under the Matching Enterprise Grants for Agriculture (MEGA) program. The Healey-Driscoll administration also invested $8.5 million statewide and throughout Western Mass in career-connected learning grants, including for Career Technical Education classrooms and to prepare students for the workforce.

In addition to these critical economic investments, Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll have provided millions of dollars for Western Mass’ public transportation, including for building West-East Rail and making regional transit service free, created a municipal bridge and road repair program focused on Western Mass, and secured more than $160 million dollars to improve rural health services and help keep regional hospitals in operation.

“I am proud to stand with Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll and offer my full endorsement for their reelection and their visionary leadership,” said Mayor Joshua A. Garcia. “Since taking office, the Healey and Driscoll administration have been true partners to Holyoke and municipalities everywhere, delivering meaningful investments and support that directly improve the lives of our residents.”

“Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll have been steadfast in their support of Pittsfield’s economic development and growth,” said Mayor Marchetti. “As we push our leadership in the life sciences and work to improve infrastructure, we’re grateful to have partners in the Healey-Driscoll administration.”

“In North Adams, we’re dedicated to building more housing, and we’re thrilled to have Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll’s support,” said Mayor Macksey. “Our accomplishments here in Western Massachusetts would not be possible without such a great team in the State House. I’m excited to support the pair in their campaign for reelection.”

“I’m grateful for the strong, progressive leadership of Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll and enthusiastically endorse their re-election,” said Mayor Sciarra. “They are helping Northampton and the Commonwealth grow, prosper and persist during challenging times across our nation. Their vision and experience is vital as we work to continue developing infrastructure, building affordable housing, supporting education, and addressing the climate crisis.”

“The Healey-Driscoll team is a true partner to cities and towns on the issues that matter most to municipal leaders, affordability, education, and the economy. Here in Easthampton, our small business community is core to our economy. Through our partnership with Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll, we’ve helped our local businesses blossom,” said Mayor Derby. “I’m proud to support the Healey-Driscoll team in their reelection campaign and look forward to continuing our strong partnership.”

“Our local leaders in Western Mass are invaluable teammates as we pursue economic growth throughout the state,” said Governor Maura Healey. “We’ve focused on the issues that matter most to residents by building more housing to lower costs, boosting economic development in the region, and investing in infrastructure that supports our communities. We’re happy to have local leaders’ continued support for our campaign and look forward to working together to build a brighter future for Massachusetts.”

“Western Mass’ local leaders are focused on growing opportunities for the region, and lowering costs for their residents. Our administration has proudly partnered with leaders across Western Mass to drive change and growth in the region,” said Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll. “I’m grateful for local leaders’ steadfast partnership and support of our campaign.”
