Healey outlines the clear choice in this election; highlights her vision to lower costs, make life easier, and stand up to Donald Trump.
Worcester, MA — On Friday, thousands of Democrats from across the state flocked to the DCU Center in Worcester for the first night of the Massachusetts Democratic Convention, where delegates overwhelmingly voted to endorse Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll.
In her speech to the delegates, Healey outlined the choice in this election where she is focused on lowering costs, making life easier, and standing up to Donald Trump. She contrasted that with her two extreme, out-of-touch millionaire opponents who stand with Donald Trump’s agenda that is raising costs and cutting healthcare, sending ICE agents into our communities, and banning abortion across the country.
“I want you to know that I see you. My focus is on you and your life, and I’ll work every day to make it better. And as your Governor, I’ll always have your back,” Healey said. “This election is about who you stand for, who you stand with, and who you stand against. Mike Minogue and Brian Shortsleeve stand with Donald Trump. I stand with you.”
Healey and Driscoll both highlighted the work the Healey-Driscoll administration has done delivering for people to lower the costs of housing, energy and healthcare, improve our schools and public transportation, serve our veterans, and protect against the damage of Donald Trump.
“Since day one, Maura and I have focused on one thing: making Massachusetts more affordable, more competitive, and more compassionate,” said Lieutenant Governor Driscoll. “Not by papering over problems, not by kicking challenges down the road, but by making smart investments and tackling issues head on.”
Following their speeches to the convention, the Massachusetts Democratic Party officially endorsed Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll for reelection.
In their first term, Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll are tackling the housing crisis by building 100,000 new homes across the state, banning renter-paid broker’s fees, and giving first-time homebuyers $25,000 toward their down payments. They are working to lower energy costs by opposing rate hikes by utility companies and bringing in more energy to increase supply and lower costs on bills. They’re also fighting for affordable healthcare by eliminating prior authorization requirements for routine care, and she’s the first governor to cap health care deductibles and co-pays.
