Boston, MA — Today, Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll joined members of UNITE HERE Local 26 for an event at the Logan Airport, where they stood with workers in their fight for a fair contract. During the stop, the union announced its endorsement of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor for reelection.

“Logan runs because working people show up every day and do the job right. These are the kinds of good jobs that keep Massachusetts moving, and I’ll fight for them just as I have for workers across our state,” said Governor Healey. “I’m grateful to have their support, and together, we will build a better Massachusetts for workers and families, with better wages, better protections, and the respect and dignity they deserve. I will continue to stand with UNITE HERE Local 26 airport workers in their fight as they stand up for a fair contract.”

“We’re going to continue to deliver results for families all across this state, but we can’t do it alone, and that’s why the support of UNITE HERE is so critical,” said Lieutenant Governor Driscoll. “As we continue to focus on making life more affordable here in Massachusetts, we need their voices and their advocacy. Progress only happens when people roll up their sleeves and do the hard work.”

Later, Governor Healey and Lt Governor Driscoll made their way to IBEW Local 103 in Dorchester, where the Governor was the keynote speaker to the newest graduating class of apprentices and highlighted the importance of investing in trades and vocational schools. Prior to her remarks, IBEW Local 103 announced their official endorsement of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor for reelection.

“The hardworking young men and women graduating today are exactly why we invest in our trades, our vocational and technical schools, and career pathways,” said Governor Healey. “Our electricians and systems techs power our homes, schools, and hospitals. When we give people the tools they need to build lasting, fulfilling careers – with fair wages and steady work – they deliver for all of us, and that’s why I’m committed to supporting our workers every single day.”

Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll remain fierce advocates for our unions and workers. Both coming from union households, they know the importance of union jobs for working families, which is why they have worked to deliver for workers. She created the first Labor Advisory Council in over 50 years, giving our unions a seat at the table. She ordered the state to implement Project Labor Agreements on all major public projects to secure fair pay, safety, and better benefits for construction, hospitality, and service workers. She filed legislation like the DRIVE and BRIGHT Acts, which would help upgrade our infrastructure and modernize our public higher education institutions to create thousands of jobs in communities across Massachusetts. Her administration is also prioritizing our electricians and tradespeople by bolstering workforce training and broadening the Registered Apprenticeship Tax Credit in emerging industries like renewable energy.
