Lynn, MA — Today, Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll joined educators at Lynn English High School for an event, where the AFT Massachusetts – which represents over 26,000 educators and staff working in public schools, universities, libraries, and health offices across the state – officially endorsed the Healey-Driscoll ticket for reelection.

At the event, Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll emphasized the importance of supporting public schools and how their administration is working to support educators in the face of sweeping federal cuts. The Governor and Lieutenant Governor expressed gratitude for receiving their endorsement and for their continued partnership with AFT Massachusetts.
“We know that Massachusetts is not immune to the anti-worker, anti-union and anti-immigrant agenda from the White House or their dangerous campaign to dismantle and defund public education. It’s impacting working families and communities every single day,” said American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts President Jessica Tang. “That’s why we are proud to support Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll’s campaign for re-election. Maura and Kim know that Massachusetts is strong when our public schools, libraries, and universities are strong. They’re not just fighting back against Trump – they’re showing up for us. For our students. Our educators. Our librarians. Our working families. Our immigrant communities. When we’ve needed them, they’ve been there. When we’re fighting to make sure the voices and needs of our working families and the communities we serve are heard, they’re pulling up a seat at the table. Maura Healey and Kim Driscoll are fighting for all of us. They are the compassionate and responsive leaders Massachusetts deserves and we look forward to doing the work to get them re-elected this fall.”
“We know that the real path to opportunity comes through our public schools,” said Governor Maura Healey. “Think about the kids that passed through these halls, and who went on to do great things across Massachusetts and across the country. That’s what makes Massachusetts so special. With us, you’re going to continue to have champions for public education, for our educators, and for our young people, because we bear the responsibility of making sure that they grow up with the resources, support, and tools they need to succeed in the world. That’s what the educators here bring every single day. We are grateful for you, we thank you, and we look forward to working with you these next 60 days to win this thing.”
“To every educator here today and to everyone working so hard across the state, I want you to know that Maura and I see all that you do day in and day out for our kids,” said Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll. “We’re not just here to thank you, we’re here to say that our administration will continue to stand with you.”
Since the start of the Healey-Driscoll administration, they’ve committed to supporting public education, increasing support for educators, and ensuring students across Massachusetts have the resources they need to succeed. Under their leadership, they doubled funding for public schools, so that Massachusetts schools continue to rank #1 in the country, and they have made school meals free for every student, and Governor Healey has proposed $100 million in supplemental funding to close budget gaps at schools across the state to retain teachers, staff, and counselors.
